A Minolta X-700 camera body in gorgeous shape but with an unusable light meter.

This is Minolta's classic top-of-its-line X-700 camera in fantastic cosmetic condition - just a little normal wear and a tiny scratch on the shutter speed dial.

Unfortunately, the light meter underexposes by so much that the meter is unusable, even when you set ASA at 6400. I replaced the capacitor in the bottom of the camera, hoping that would fix the problem, but it did not. (There's a second capacitor in the top of this camera, but accessing it is a bit beyond my current repair skills, sadly, and I'm not sure that's the source of the light meter problem.)

The light meter LEDs light up and the shutter fires when batteries are installed. But the camera won't work properly on any automatic exposure mode because the light meter is incorrect. The shutter speeds sound and look correct, so I'm assuming you could ignore the light meter and set the aperture and shutter using Sunny 16 or an external light meter and get good results. But I can't guarantee that.

Foam light seals and mirror bumper have not recently replaced. I haven't tested the camera with a flash.

The camera is not film tested and is sold as a parts camera, AS/IS, with no guarantee of functionality and no returns.
